Spring brush pick up is on Monday, April 26, 2021
- Stack brush at curb, cut end toward street but not protruding into street
- Brush must be no larger than 5 inches in diameter & 5 feet long
- Normal yard debris, branches & trimmings only. No garden or flower bed debris
- Maximum load time is 10 minutes per address; debris remaining after time allocation is owners responsibility
- This service is for small branches and limbs that might have fallen during storms
- Service is not for removal of entire trees
- Once crews have left THEY WILL NOT BE BACK
- Brush should not be put out any sooner than Monday, April 19, 2021
Spring clean up is on Saturday, May 8th, 2021
- No tires, garden debris, branches brush, leaves, bricks, rocks, toxic chemicals, hazardous waste, paint, batteries, items containing Froen, engine blocks, or heavy automobile parts
- Items must weigh less than 150lbs
- Small debris must be tied, bagged, or in containers
- Maximum load time is 15 minutes per address
- Once crews have left they will not come back
- Items may be put on the curb beginning May 1st; all items should be at the curb by 6am on Saturday May 8th, 2021
- Tire Drop Off will be on May 8, 2021 from 8am-12pm. (Please drop off tires at the Street Department)

Wastewater Class II Operator Utilities Assistant
Full Time $22.50/hr
Job Description
Under general supervision of the Utilities Supervisor, operates treatment plant in accordance with EPA regulations and requirements and maintains related equipment. Performs task related to the repair of equipment; maintenance of buildings and grounds and other related maintenance task of the Village of Burton Treatment Facilities and their connecting infrastructure as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of operations and maintenance of wastewater/water treatment facilities and mechanical and electrical equipment.
Skill in use of basic laboratory equipment and hand tools; power tools/equipment.
Ability to understand and follow operating instructions; conduct routine sampling procedures and laboratory analysis; perform calculations and perform a variety of manual labor tasks including working indoors and outdoors environments; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. Working in confined spaces, climbing ladders and at times regular sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Ability to work overtime, weekends and on call as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently have Ohio EPA wastewater class II certification
- Pass a physical, as well as a drug test and background check.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license
Benefits include OPERS, 2 weeks’ vacation after 1 year, and paid medical.

Ohio EPA wanted to make community public water systems aware of financial assistance available to Ohioans who are behind on rent, mortgage, and water and/or sewer bills, as far back as April 1, 2021. This assistance is being made available from the CARES Act through 47 Community Action Agencies throughout the state.

Garage Sale procedures for the Village of Burton:
Practice social distancing by doing the following:
- Place posters encouraging social distancing for customers to see upon arrival and while shopping.
- Set up tables and chairs within 6 feet apart.
- Use heavy-duty tape to form a flow for customers to follow throughout the sale.
- Ask customers to stand in a line, while spread apart, during a high traffic times.
Clean all tables and chairs several times throughout the day.
- Make sure all merchandise is washed and dried and/or wiped down with a disinfectant product before placing on a table or chair for sale.
- Wipe down all tables and chairs using disinfectant at the end of the day or in the morning before the next day of the sale starts.
- Wear masks and disposable gloves at all times during the sale.
- Have hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol on tables and other places for customers to use.

Our Burton Utility Department will be marking utility lines on lawns and streets Monday through Friday during normal business hours. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Village Office.
Please note: The Board of Public Affairs recently updated the Rules and Regulations to state that any water and sewer bill not paid by the due date (a delinquent account) AND with a balance of $300 or greater will have services shut off. Payment plans are available to anyone who is having trouble paying their water/sewer bill. If you are making regularly scheduled payments on a payment plan, your account is not delinquent.
The Village of Burton has teamed up with Waste Management to offer Burton Village residents a Single Hauler Trash Program that became effective April 1, 2019. All residents will automatically be enrolled in the standard service level of a 96-gallon trash cart and a 64-gallon recycle cart at a rate of $17.41 per month. To choose a different service level, be sure to contact the Village Office at 440-834-4474. A senior rate is available. Also available is "low volume bag service." Recycling will take place every two weeks. All standard service level customers will get a recycle tote; bag customers have the option of adding recycling service at a rate of $5.33/month.
